Colonial architecture reimagined into luxe accommodations 

Casita Caliza is our newest addition at Hacienda Sac Chich. Completely modern and luxurious, yet constructed using techniques from the past of Yucatan. It is located adjacent to Casa Vieja’s pool and garden area. Set behind stone walls and lush gardens, you will experience complete privacy. 

Built using a traditional colonial method called ‘mamposteria’, the walls were carefully constructed by hand with a method of cut stones and cement. In Maya this is referred to as “pak’il naj” and you will see historical examples of this throughout the area. The dramatically sloped and richly toned roof is also an ode to the past, carefully constructed with vintage french tiles.

Casita Caliza is a one-bedroom accommodation with a queen bed. The casita is fully airconditioned and additionally has a ceiling fan. There is a small refrigerator, Bluetooth speaker, and Nespresso machine in the bedroom. Through the bedroom archway is a spacious bathroom.

This generous space has stone floors, stone walls, and chukum finishings. The bamboo ceiling meets glass panes to allow natural light in. Delight in a sunlight-filled shower or a relaxing soak in your oversized stone bathtub. Afterward, enjoy laying in the hammock listening to the running water of the fish pond. Within the pond are two strategically placed walkway stones, leading you out through your second private entrance. 

Casita Caliza is constructed of hand-cut stones, limestone and plaster polished to a sleek finish by the ancient Mayan technique called chukum, and bamboo accents. The ceiling and door heights give every space a sense of great space.
